Full Bio

Gemma Fox is a multi-award-winning recording artist, songwriter, broadcaster and one of the original Queens of UK Bassline and Grime — a defining creative force in UK R&B, Bassline and underground culture for over two decades. Gemma has received two Gold and one Silver certification plaques for her contributions across several major compilation releases.

Her debut single Girlfriend's Story featuring MC Lyte — a raw, fearless anthem addressing domestic violence — broke into the UK Top 40 (#38) and reached #8 on the Official R&B Chart. The release earned Gemma a MOBO Award nomination and an Urban Music Award win for Best R&B Act, firmly establishing her as both a powerful storyteller and socially conscious artist. Her debut album Messy (Polydor Records) further cemented her place in UK music history, featuring collaborations with world-class producers including Chucky Thompson (Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G.), Stargate (Rihanna, Ne-Yo), Midi Mafia (50 Cent, Fantasia, Jennifer Lopez), Johnny Douglas (George Michael, Kylie Minogue), Punch, Rob "Reef" Tewlow and Dexplicit.

Gemma Fox has a killer ear for hooks and melodies, with a writing style that blends attitude, experience and emotion. Her songwriting spans R&B, Slow Jams, Afrobeats, House, Rock, Gospel, Dance, Pop, K-Pop, UKG, Reggae and Country. DISCO links available on request.

Gemma has released music through Polydor, Ministry of Sound, Circus, New State, Gut Records and Night Bass, and has been published by Zomba | Jive | Concord, BMG and Supreme Songs.

As an independent artist and label owner, Gemma founded Fox Ents, building a catalogue that has dominated UK dance floors and streaming platforms alike. Club anthems including Might Be, Boxers, Gone, Veins and Operator (feat. Hans Glader) have collectively generated over 10 million streams and 128 chart entries across Music Week, Beatport and the Official UK Club Charts.

Widely respected as a topline songwriter, Gemma's work spans Bassline, R&B, House, Pop and commercial dance. She has written and collaborated internationally across the US, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the UK, known for her emotional depth, strong melodic identity and versatility across radio, club, sync and visual media.

Currently, Gemma is writing on major global projects, working with TroyBoi (global electronic artist with hundreds of millions of streams), J Rocs (Grammy-winning producer — Chris Brown, Ella Mai, Mary J. Blige), Fredro Rocka (producer/songwriter with Wu-Tang affiliates and major label artists), Cut Father (Grammy-winning producer — Kylie Minogue, Westlife), Toneworld (key collaborator on RAYE's recent album project), and 88 Keys (Blaque, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Frank Ocean). Gemma is also the official songwriter for The House and Garage Orchestra, with her first single featuring American songstress Syleena Johnson.

In addition, Gemma is featured as part of the "Music Is Black" exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A), recognising her cultural contribution to British music and Black music history.

Gemma's music and catalogue have been used across television, film and digital media, with placements supporting storytelling in drama, documentary and entertainment formats. Her understanding of sync, publishing and rights management is grounded in lived experience — from major-label releases to independent catalogue ownership.

Alongside her creative work, Gemma serves as A&R at Lion Bear Records and is the founder of Fox Music Consultancy, providing artists with publishing administration, neighbouring rights support, PRS/MCPS/PPL registration, demo development, split management and catalogue strategy — with a strong focus on empowering artists and women in music.

A respected industry voice, Gemma is a regular speaker at leading conferences including Brighton Music Conference and Leicester Music Conference, sharing insight from her 20+ year career as an artist, songwriter, performer and entrepreneur.

Beyond music, she is the founder of Messy Jam, a successful Oxford-based dance school whose dancers reached the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent, and is launching her new Music & Drama school, Fox & West, in North London in September 2026.

With a career built on authenticity, adaptability and longevity, Gemma Fox continues to evolve — bridging legacy and future — as a writer, artist, mentor and creative leader in UK and global music.
